The Munter - Mule is pretty much considered the standard when tying off a munter...and it works good, but... We have been using this "other" technique quite a bit over the past year. Richard Delaney has done some good research on it, and shows it's efficacy well, but regardless of the research and data points, we find it easy, effective, and really secure. It also is very dependable when releasing. When using smaller diameter ropes, which we usually work with (6mm-7.5mm), we have had some issues popping the slip knot of the Mule on occasion, which is obviously not a factor with the Monster Munter Tie-Off. Try it, practice it, and see what you think. Stay mindful as on any tie-off, when releasing.
